With the help of a rogue scientist, Edie breaks Michael out and brings him to an old farmhouse that Edie grew up in. Here, in the quiet of the countryside, they bond. Michael learns what it is like to be a free human being, and Edie reconnects with her emotional side that has been suppressed her entire life. Michael tries to adjust to this new world, sometimes a wonderful thing, but at other times, cruel and unforgiving. |
Meanwhile, The Lab works hard to find Michael . Edie's coworker, Susan, tracks Edie down and gains her trust so she can observe. Once she gathers enough data, she calls The Lab. After much chaos and misadventure, Michael willingly goes back to The Lab. In the end, he feels like he'll never belong in this complicated world and that it is too late for him. |

But the biggest surprise is Edie. She discovers that she was the true subject of the experiment to test whether or not she would disobey authority and follow her heart. As a result of all this, Edie becomes a different person. Life is no longer a motion she goes through day in and day out. At The Lab, Michael is replaced by a newborn baby. The cycle continues. |
